Varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) are common diseases in Germany. Initially, spider veins and (reticular) varicose veins usually occur. As the disease progresses, edema and skin changes occur, which represent a significantly increased risk for the development of venous leg ulcers. In addition to the patient’s wishes, their state of health and the duplex sonographic findings, the clinical classification according to CEAP is helpful in selecting the therapeutic procedure.
