Abstract: Abstract The diphenyls MPh2 (M = Be, Mg, Zn, Cd, Hg) have been reacted with pyrazine (Pz) in tetrahydrofuran. Only the magnesium derivative undergoes electron transfer to yield the 1:1 radical complex [Pz(MgPh)]·.
