“…Cargos with marmor lunense have mainly been discovered along the coasts of Gallia and Liguria and between the islands of Corsica and Sardinia (Beltrame et al, 2020: 1089) (Figure 5); their tonnages range from 3 tonnes (La Mirande) (Descamps, 1992) to 200 tonnes (Saint‐Tropez) (Benoit, 1952). The shipwrecks that lie between the two islands are that of Porto Novo, dated to 30 ce , with four column drums and five large blocks (Bernard et al, 1998), and Punta del Francese. The huge dimensions of the blocks and the total weight of the Punta del Francese cargo (225 tonnes) suggest that it was a shipment for an important public building in Gallia or Hispania (Beltrame & Cipolato, 2019; Beltrame et al, 2020), but similar considerations have been made for the shipwreck of Porto Novo.…”

“…Close to the ports of embarkation lie the shipwrecks of Porto Novo (southern Corsica), with four column drums and five large blocks (Bernard et al . 1998), and Porto Cervo (Sassari‐Sardinia), with 22 blocks and one column drum, which could both be of the same lunense (Pipere 2014). (An archaeometric study of the marbles of the Porto Cervo cargo is currently in progress.…”

“…Otras naves naufragadas que transportaban mármoles, aunque con una capacidad de carga inferior, en : Russell 2011: 139-155. Conocemos otras naves que transportaban otros productos, como el naufragio de Madrague de Giens, de hacia mediados del s. I a.C., con una capacidad carga de 350 toneladas, o el de Albenga, del s. I a.C., que transportaba ánforas, con una capacidad de carga de 450 toneladas (Bernard, Bessac, Mardikian, Feugère 1998: 53-54).…”
