Abstract:Humorous discourse uses diverse linguistic strategies and devices to elicit laughter from viewers. This paper studies metalinguistic reflection as a creative and cohesive element of humorous discourse. To this end, we analyze a corpus of 50 examples taken from a well-known Spanish comedy TV show.
