La taille de la pierre sur l'aqueduc romain d'Arles au Vallon des Arcs à Fontvieille (B.-du-Rh.)

Abstract

The study of stone-cutting and traces of tools on the blocks of the aqueduct in the Vallon des Arcs in Fontvieille compared with the results yielded by the archeological digging gives information on how the building works were carried out, and on the reuse and the late reprocessing of the stones. Two works of the Aries aqueduct, the Simian bridge and the "vallée des Baux" bridge were the topic of additional observations which sometimes acknowledge the conclusions.
