“…Unemployment is a challenging issue and is not only a significant economic and societal burden (e.g., criminality, family breakdown, poverty, and substance abuse) on countries, but also a psychological burden on most unemployed individuals (Bernstein, 2019; Brand, 2015). Despite the high unemployment rate and the associated detrimental psychological consequences, few psychologically oriented unemployment interventions exist within the South African context (Paver et al, 2019).
