“…Again, molecular orientation induced in LB films depends on the metal and fabrication conditions, such as surface pressure of deposition and dipper speed. [46][47][48][49][50][51][52][53] In contrast to the lack of orientation in the LbL films studied here, Zucolotto et al 29 reported preferential orientation for FeTsPc (the same molecule of the present study), but with the films being fabricated at a different pH. Because the pH of the solutions employed in the adsorption process of the LbL films governs the electrostatic interactions, film morphology may differ substantially with a change in pH.…”

“…Apart from these important material properties, this class of compound also exhibits a wide range of other qualities [1], for instance in the area of electrical conductivity [2,3] and liquid crystals [4,5]. Phthalocyanines have been used in Langmuir-Blodgett films [6,7], as gas sensors [8], for optical data storage [9] and in non-linear optics (as described herein). Generally, the main restricting factor for their processing and application is a rather low solubility in common organic solvents.…”

Three 1,8,15, 4 ] [H 2 Pc(α-OC 5 H 11 ) 4 = 1,8,15,22-tetrakis(3-pentyloxy)-phthalocyanine; H 2 Pc(α-OC 7 H 15 ) 4 = 1,8,15,22-tetrakis(2,4-dimethyl-3-pentyloxy)phthalocyanine; H 2 Pc(α-OC 10 H 7 ) 4 = 1,8,15,22-tetrakis-(2-naphthyloxy)phthalocyanine] (1-3) have been prepared by treating the corresponding metal-free phthalocyanines H 2 Pc(α-OR) 4 with Ni(acac) 2 ·2H 2 O in refluxing n-pentanol. Structures of the Langmuir monolayers of these compounds at different temperature have been investigated.
