“…The highest rates, however, were reported in papers using the 'SPILA unassisted' technique (2/10, 20%). 13 There were six intra-abdominal abscesses across all of the studies: five were reported in four 'SPILA unassisted' papers 9,11,19,21 and one in a 'hybrid' paper. 29 In total, complication rates appear to be highest for those procedures in which SPILA is not assisted by sutures or wire.…”

“…[7] But, it increases the cost of the procedure and appropriate use of SILS-specific instruments demands a steep learning curve. To overcome these drawbacks, few surgeons have tried SILS appendicectomy using conventional laparoscopic instruments,[1214] where they have used multiple ports through a single incision[12] or through a noncommercial SILS ports. [1314]…”

“…3 Lee AJ at al reported that no significant difference noted for mean operative time for Single incision laparoscopy group and conventional laparoscopy group. 4 One patient in single incision laparoscopy group had wound infection which was treated with antibiotics and re admission was not required. In conventional laparoscopy group, 2 patients had a hematoma around the surgical wound in the lower left quadrant, which did not require treatment.…”
