“…In our follow up protocol including 3 rd and 6 th month controls, it was seen that no tumor (0%) reccurrences occurred, and this result was also in correlation with the literature (Gervais et al, 2005;Park et al, 2006;Zagoria et al, 2007;Ferakis et al, 2010;del Cura et al, 2010;Kim 2012). Although RFA is a less invasive treatment than surgical treatment options, various complications, such as pain, bleeding, hematuria, infection, urinary fistula, damage of adjacent structures can be occurred in RFA (Aron and Gill, 2005;Kwan and Matsumoto, 2007;Park et al, 2009;Ji et al, 2011;Atwell et al, 2012). In our study, no RFA related complications was detemined in the application and follow up period.…”

“…We reported our intermediate results of LRFA on 106 patients with renal tumors in 2011. Fourteen tumors larger than 4 cm were also included in that cohort, and only one incomplete ablation and 2 major complications occurred in that subgroup [10]. In this regard, to adequately evaluate the efficacy of RFA in the management of SRMs, the current study excluded tumors larger than 4 cm and patients with bilateral or multiple renal tumors.…”

“…The operation was generally performed via the retroperitoneal approach for posterior-located tumors and transperitoneally for anterior tumors. The Cool-tip RF ablation system (Valleylab, Boulder, Colo., USA) was used for LRFA as previously described [10]. After a brief exposure of the renal tumor, the RFA probe was induced through the abdominal wall and laparoscopic ultrasound was used to guide the insertion of the probe to the desired depth.…”

“…A fourth study examined the intermediate-term results for laparoscopic RFA of 90 biopsy-proven RCCs and found a disease-free survival rate of 97.8%, as well as cancerspecific and overall survival rates of 100% [4].…”
