Laplace Stleltjes Transform based Conditional Survivability Coefficient Model for mitigating Selfish Nodes in MANETs

Abstract: In MANETs, the cooperation is considered as an important entity for enabling reliable data dissemination among the mobile nodes. But, the existence of selfish nodes weakens the degree of cooperation and in turn reduces the network performance. Hence, the computation of reputation level for each and every node in the network becomes essential in order to make optimal routing decisions. In this paper, we propose a Laplace Stleltjes Transform based Conditional Survivability Coefficient Model (LCSCM), which manipu… Show more

“…This simulation process facilitates the process of evaluating the components of network that includes, nodes, routing, packets, and transport or application protocols. This proposed NIRIMDMP technique is included in MANET framework over which the mobile nodes transmit data amid source and destination nodes in the network using the AODV routing algorithm 28,29 . The simulation environment considered for implementation includes 500 mobile nodes deployed arbitrarily in the terrain area of 1500 × 1500 m 2 .…”

In this simulation experiment, 10-40% of the mobile nodes are considered to exhibit malicious behavior by dropping the data packets with the rate ranging between 40% and 70%.…”

“…Further, an Exponential Reliability Coefficient-based Selfishness Detection Scheme (ERC-SDS) was proposed using the past historical data derived from the mobile nodes either through direct and indirect monitoring process [12,15]. This ERC-SDS aided in devising two different upper and lower thresolds for facilitating the process of selfish node detection.…”

“…The mobile node's utility function is the degree of utilization benefit provided by that node to other mobile nodes of the network in achieving the possible set of network functionalities 4 . In short, the utmost priority of any individual mobile node concentrates on the process of provisioning significant and indispensable communication among the mobile nodes in the network 5 . However, the utility function of each mobile node may be different.…”
