Large-area perovskite nanowire arrays fabricated by large-scale roll-to-roll micro-gravure printing and doctor blading

Abstract: Organic-inorganic hybrid halide perovskite nanowires (PNWs) show great potential applications in electronic and optoelectronic devices such as solar cells, field-effect transistors and photodetectors. It is very meaningful to fabricate ordered, large-area PNW arrays and greatly accelerate their applications and commercialization in electronic and optoelectronic devices. Herein, highly oriented and ultra-long methylammonium lead iodide (CH3NH3PbI3) PNW array thin films were fabricated by large-scale roll-to-rol… Show more

“…As reported in the literature, the MAPbI 3 perovskite films prepared using one-step spin-coating contains 1D branch-like structures, 15 the two-step dipping method results in 3D cuboids, 16 and the antisolvent/ MA-gas treatments 17,18 lead to smooth polycrystalline thin films. These morphological characteristics can meet different functional requirements in the devices, which has been demonstrated extensively in the literature.…”

“…Another printing method that has been used in the organic solar cell field 75 and has been started to be applied to the perovskite field is gravure printing. Micro-gravure printing and doctor blading were used by Hu et al 76 to produce highly oriented and large-area perovskite nanowires (PNWs) which were used in photodetectors. Gravure printing can also be used to deposit transparent electrodes made of Ag nanowires.…”

“…[2,9] However, it is not easy to make a discrete fine pattern in the wet-processed OSM films because of the intrinsic liquid-like nature of OSM solutions, even though either gravure or ink-jet printing technology can be applied for big patterns with more than several tens of micrometer sizes at the expense of poor film uniformity and edge roughness. [11,12] Ion beams, which are composed of ionized atoms or molecules, have been widely used for ion implantation (doping) processes in semiconductor industries in order to modify the nature of inorganic semiconducting materials (e.g., boron or phosphorous doping for Si wafers). [13,14] In addition, the ion beams with a high kinetic energy have been introduced to enhance the mechanical strength of inorganic and/or metallic components such as titanium and nickel.…”
