Large Scale Synthesis of Carbon Nanofibres on Sodium Chloride Support

Abstract: Large scale synthesis of carbon nanofibres (CNFs) on a sodium chloride support has been achieved. CNFs have been synthesized using metal oxalate (Ni, Co and Fe) as catalyst precursors at 680 C by chemical vapour deposition method. Upon pyrolysis, this catalyst precursors yield catalyst nanoparticles directly. The sodium chloride was used as a catalyst support, it was chosen because of its non-toxic and water soluble nature. Problems, such as the detrimental effect of CNFs, the detrimental effects on the env… Show more

“…41-1487, blue star). A comparison with SEM ( figure 2 ) and TEM ( figure 3 ) indicates that the majority of the detected carbon is in the form of nanowires, which is consistent with [ 37 ]. Further reduction (green line) of the hybrid material leads to a practically pure phase (JCPDS card no.…”

“…The X-ray diffraction pattern of the electrocatalysts shows a cubic structure (Fm-3m space group) without a second phase. The first diffractogram peak at 26.0° can be assigned to graphite-structured carbons (002) of the raw VGCNF diffraction planes of hexagonal graphite (JCPDS card file 41-1487) (Rajarao and Bhat [30]). Each diffractogram pattern exhibited has four diffraction peaks that can be indexed to diffraction from the plane (1 1 1), (2 0 0), (2 2 0), and (3 1 1) fcc.
