Laser Cladding Induced Spherical Graphitic Phases by Super-Assembly of Graphene-Like Microstructures and the Antifriction Behavior

Abstract: Laser cladding coatings with excellent wear resistance behaviors are prepared on a titanium alloy substrate with a new precursor material system comprising nanoscale B 4 C and Ni60A self-fluxing alloy powder. Structural analysis reveals the existence of micron-size spherical or nearly spherical graphitic phases in the prepared coatings, which are composed of graphene-like microstructures closely associated with other reinforcement phases of high hardness such as TiC and CrB. The formatio… Show more

“…Nonfreezing water molecules adsorbed on small polymer clusters (or isolated polymers) in polymer-poor domains are exposed by phase separation, thus supporting the growth of the water network and the formation of intermediate water on gPMEA. The formation of a heterogeneous interface is highly relevant to many fields (e.g., chemical biology and catalytic chemistry , ) and surface characteristics (e.g., wetting, , friction, , nucleation reactions, , and biofouling , ).…”

“…By virtue of their extraordinarily high chemical stability, excellent electrical conductivity, large surface area, and ultralight weight, carbon materials such as graphene and CNTs are of great interest in serving as 3D conductive and porous scaffolds. In general, 3D porous carbon platforms are fabricated by the CVD method or laser scribing technique. However, carbon materials can only contribute to limited EDLC-type capacitance. The hybridization with other active materials is an effective way to achieve higher capacitance and even wider potential window. , He et al .…”

“…Titanium alloy is a lightweight metal material with excellent mechanical properties, high-temperature resistance, and biocompatibility, widely used in the automotive industry, chemical industry, and other fields [1][2][3]. However, TC4 titanium alloy has some defects, such as poor wear resistance, which severely restricts its service life and reliability [4,5]. Therefore, it is necessary to modify the surface of the titanium alloy to adapt to its application in the field of mechanical motion.…”
