Lekceważone potencjały i narosłe nieporozumienia: kilka uwag o metodzie autobiograficznego wywiadu narracyjnego Fritza Schützego

Abstract: W dobie rosnącej popularności metody autobiograficznego wywiadu narracyjnego wypracowanej przez Fritza Schützego coraz częściej spotkać możemy błędne jej interpretacje i zastosowania. “…For there are such stories about individuals' own lives-as the above one-which, although they seem to fulfill the recently recalled (Waniek 2019), strict criteria of the sociological biographical method at the empirical level, they encourage its theoretical reopening. It is difficult to find a better excuse than the serious problem disclosed here by moving from the narrative "how" to the biographical "what.…”

“…Recognition and understanding of the emic perspective of research participants is just the tip of an iceberg of the analytical and interpretative work. As researchers, we are bound to go beyond this perspective and render the collected empirical data analytical (Schütze, 2012a;Kaźmierska, 2012Kaźmierska, , 2016Piotrowski, 2016;Waniek, 2019). But this begs the question whether it is only the researcher, with his or her academic standing, who can accomplish the analysis and the interpretative procedure?…”

“…(is the narrator talking about) and "how?" (is the narrator telling their life story) and to follow subsequent analytical "steps", by which "new knowledge" is being generated and theorized (Schütze, 2012a;Kaźmierska, 2012;Piotrowski, 2016;Czyżewski, 2016, Waniek, 2019). Schütze's method is applied from the very beginning of fieldwork, starting with the selection of research participants.…”

“…The methodological barriers appeared while conducting the interviews and finally only 10 of them can be classified according to the pure methodological approach of Schütze. The other 15 are narrative interviews, but their interpretation can be supported by some of Schütze's theoretical figures and instruments(Prawda 1989;Włodarek and Ziółkowski 1990;Kaźmierska 1996;1999;2014bCzyżewski 1997;Schütze 1997;2012a;Rokuszewska-Pawełek 2002;Gałęziowski 2019;Waniek 2019).
