Les observations de poissons tropicaux et le réchauffement des eaux dans l'Atlantique européen

Abstract: The records of tropical fishes and the warming of the European Atlantic waters. A recapitulation of the records of tropical fishes from European Atlantic waters shows that 67.6 % were fishes caught from the upper slope, between approximately 200 and 600 m; 19.8 % were fishes caught from the continental shelf; and 13.5 % were specimens caught from the middle slope, between 700 and 1 300 m. Since 1963, the upper slope species have made regular northward range extensions off of south Portugal to northwestern Irel… Show more

“…For example, researchers have noticed the northward progression of tropical species along the continental shelf west of Ireland since the late 1980s (e.g. Quero et al 1998). An invasion by blue-mouth Helicolenus dactylopterus in the northern North Sea took place in 1990/91 (Heessen et al 1996).…”

“…1988 to recent increases in the North Sea horse mackerel fishery. Pronounced increases in tropical fish in the Bay of Biscay area have been noted (Quero et al 1998) by scientists in France, while Swaby & Potts (1999) made the first British record of the sailfin dory Zenopsis conchifer, noting that the species is advancing northwards along the continental shelf west of the British Isles at a rate of 60 km per decade. Other studies show similar patterns.…”

“…1 o C) in the depth range studied, a slight variation in seawater temperature can have significant effects on the distribution of fish (e.g. Quéro et al, 1998). After these parameters, sediment fractions are the next most important, which includes the percentage contribution of very coarse sand, coarse sand, and medium sand.…”
