“…A number of reviews of the literature exist including Johnson (2003), Johnson & Jent (2003;Johnson & Jent 2005, and Johnson, Jent and Reynolds (2007) Significantly what is missing from the literature, and which has prompted us to carry out this study, is a broad view of what is actually being done by workplace librarians to instruct in information literacy, to train people to meet information There is no measure, no yardstick, no base point to which we can point and say, 'this is where we are now', and from which we can look beyond to where we wish to be. “…One possible explanation for this discrepancy is the time span covered by each sample. Strayhorn's (2006) study used CSEQ data from 2003-2004, while this current study used CCSEQ data taken from students from 2005-2010. In following Garrison's theory (Garrison & Akyol, 2009;Garrison & Archer, 2000), it would seem indeed that technology is becoming an increasingly integrated part of pedagogy and success in higher education.…”

“…These items are discussed in more detail in the methods section of this present study. While the terms computer and information literacy have been operationalized in many different manners across academic disciplines, the use of the computer technology scale on the CSEQ and CCSEQ instruments are common in previous research for creating an empirically measurable construct of these concepts (Dollar, 2003;Johnson & Jent, 2004;Kuh & Hu, 2001;Kuh & Vesper, 2001;Strayhorn, 2006).…”

“…A major writer on delivering information skills in school libraries has been James Herring who has written a number of books developing his PLUS (Purpose, Location, Use, Selection) model (Herring, 1999). The integration of information skills as a part of the wider theory of information literacy became a key issue of the library and information profession from 2003, as noted by Johnson and Jent (2004). Information literacy also incorporated the notion of independent learning, which has been an issue within the school library profession for some years (Jones, 2005).…”
