Lifetime Prediction of Lead-Acid Batteries in Base-Transceiver Station

Abstract: The battery is an essential component in providing continuous electricity supply using renewable energy sources. It can be found in many daily applications, such as in the telecommunication system, radio microwave system, emergency lighting, the backup system of power plants, even in a photovoltaic system. It is often used as the backup source in case of a failure in the main supply system. The duration of how long the battery can still supply energy to loads without being charged is defined as the battery aut… Show more

“…Batteries are used in many daily life activities, such as in portable telecommunication equipments, multimedia devices, hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) [1], electric vehicles (EV) [2,3], energy harvesting, base-transceiver station (BTS) in the telecommunication system [4], wearable computing devices [5], wireless sensor network (WSN) [6,7] and energy storage in smartgrid networks [8,9]. A battery in a system must be used properly in order to reach its lifetime as long as possible.…”

“…The invention of lead–acid batteries is about 100 years earlier than lithium-ion batteries, but many studies and designs have been published for research on lithium-ion batteries, and there are many opportunities for research on lead–acid batteries (Lyu et al., 2017; Wibawa et al., 2017). However, the interesting thing is that most of the vehicle applications are still dominated by lead–acid batteries.…”
