Limits on Muon-Neutrino Oscillations in the Mass Range30<Δm2<1000

Abstract: A search for inclusive muon-neutrino (v^) oscillations has been performed in the Fermilab narrow-band neutrino beam using two detectors running simultaneously at two distances from the neutrino source. The data show no evidence for a distance dependence of the neutrino flux and rule out oscillations of v^ into any other single type of neutrino for 30 < Am 2 < 1000 eV 2 /c 4 and sin 2 (20) > 0.02-0.20.

“…The thin solid curve is the MiniBooNE-only 90% CL sensitivity. The 90% CL limits from CDHS [36] and CCFR [35] experiments are also shown. Figure 7.19 shows the MiniBooNE data distribution compared with the MC prediction with the null, best fit, and several other parameter sets.…”

“…The thin solid curve is the MiniBooNE-only 90% CL sensitivity. The 90% CL limits from CDHS [36] and CCFR [35] experiments are also shown. The event selection, fit method and the error analysis developed for this ν µ disappearance analysis are directly applicable for theν µ analysis as well.…”

“…From the 90% CL exclusion curves of the Bugey [35]ν e →ν e reactor experiment and of the CDHS [36] and CCFR [37] ν µ → ν µ accelerator experiments it follows that a 0 e is small (a 0 e 4 × 10 −2 ) for ∆m 2 SBL in the range (2.5) and a 0 µ 10 −1 for ∆m 2 SBL 0.5 eV 2 (see Fig. 1 of Ref.…”

“…In Fig.1 we have plotted the values of 4(a 0 µ ) 2 (solid curve) and B 0 µ;µ (dashed curve) obtained from the 90% CL exclusion curves of the CDHS [36] and CCFR [37] experiments in the range (2.5) of ∆m 2 SBL , that covers the LSND-allowed region. The dashed curve representing B 0 µ;µ constitutes an upper bound for A µ;τ due to the conservation of probability.…”
