LINDASearch: a faceted search system for linked open datasets

Abstract: The importance of Linked Data lies on the fact that its practices and principles have been adopted by an increasing number of data providers, resulting in the creation of a data space on the Web containing billions of RDF Triples and accessible worldwide throughout the Internet. RDF datasets can be queried by tools and applications for searching and gathering information. However and due to the huge amount and types of dataset, the selection and reuse of data resources is not easy task. Therefore, a metasearch… Show more

“…For example, the Chinese medical code has collected more than 1000 major works of traditional Chinese medicine in the past dynasties. Using the library classification method, the collected ancient books are divided into 12 categories: medical classics, diagnostic methods, materia medica, prescription books, acupuncture and massage, typhoid golden chamber, febrile disease, comprehensive medical books, clinical and syndrome disciplines, external treatment of health and diet therapy, medical theory and medical records, and others, involving all disciplines of traditional Chinese medicine [15][16][17][18][19].…”

“…Ilyas et al [45] propose an abstract conceptual process model for semantic search engines, which should consist of ontology manager, web crawler, query builder and preprocessor, and inference engine. In the work presented by Sánchez-Cervantes et al [46], a meta-search system, called LINDASearch, is introduced to provide information about the wellknown open linked data projects (e.g., DBpedia). LINDASearch aims to overcome several limitations, including faceted navigation and data unification over various domains, time optimization, and results' scalability.…”

“…A faceted search visualization technique can also support categorized access to heterogeneous and unstructured biomedical data sources [33]. This technique can also support a metasearch system to search and gather data resources from multiple Open Linked Data Projects [34]. Furthermore, it facilitates a coarse-grained and fine-grained exploration of geographic maps through interactive widgets [35].…”

“…A random walk-based framework has been used to induce a sub-network consisting of related nodes of the scientific article citations or content similarity network [30]. Relevant facets can also be predicted by using a Random Forest (RF) model [38], based on the most frequent queries of the most similar users [34], based on the ability of the user to provide desired values for each facet [29], as well as based on statistical and perceptual measures [31].…”
