Linear and nonlinear optical analysis on semiorganic L -proline cadmium chloride single crystal

Abstract: In the current investigation, L -proline cadmium chloride monohydrate (LPCC) single crystal is grown by a slow solvent evaporation technique to identify its credibility for nonlinear optical device applications. The constituent elements of LPCC crystal are determined by the energy dispersive spectroscopic (EDS) technique. The single crystal x-ray diffraction technique is used to determine the structural dimensions of LPCC crystal. The UV-visible studies are carried out w… Show more

“…It confirms the occurrence of positive refraction nonlinearity in Nd-ZTS crystal which is primarily attributed to material exhibiting self-focusing character [37,38]. The TONLO refraction in material is governed by the phenomenon of localized absorption of incident optical beam of high frequency, giving rise to thermal lensing effect (spatial distribution of energy along the crystal surface) [39][40][41]. The positive refraction nonlinearity of high magnitude leads to Kerr lens modelocking (KLM) whose ability is highly desirable for shorter pulse generation and laser stabilization systems [42,43].…”

“…As it is noted from the table 1, the values of the n 2 and ( ) c 3 of the EBT/PVA film are of the same order or even greater than their values for the materials mentioned in [35,37,38,[72][73][74][75][76][77][78][79], which proves that the n 2 and ( ) c 3 values obtained for the EBT/PVA film are good values. Also, the value of the nonlinear index of refraction of the sample calculated by the Z-scan method is higher than the values mentioned in the studies [80][81][82][83][84][85][86] that used the same technique, which makes the EBT/PVA film a promising candidate for the use in photon applications especially as an optical limiter for the cw low power laser beam due to the occurrence of the phenomenon of self-defocusing of the laser beam when it passes through the sample, as it was observed in Z-scan experiment. As we know that the self-defocusing of a laser beam is one of the mechanisms that cause the sample to behave like an optical limiter.…”

“…Some of important transitions with increasing energies are: non-bonding to pie * , non-bonding to sigma * , pie to pie * , sigma to pie * and sigma to sigma * . This UV-Vis spectral studies help to analyse the factors connected with a crystal such as anisotropy in molecular alignment, crystal defects (voids, vacancies, grain boundaries, striations, pits, solvent impurities, inclusions) by measuring the intensity of optical transmittance [32]. [12]; #previously reported KDP [19].…”

“…From SHG test, the SHG efficiency of the synthesized SPH crystal was found to be almost 1.7 times more than that of the reference KDP. The enhancement of SHG efficiency results from (i) an incresease in electron phonon interactions by structural disordering in a crystal that leads to the formation of a sub-energy bands below the energy gap and thus facilitates the favorable surroundings for photoinduced nonlinear optical effects to dwell efficiently and (ii) the enhanced charge transfer induced by the metal-organic coordination [32,33].…”
