“…For instance, incorporation of gallic acid and (þ)-catechin into seed oils greatly improved the oxidative stability of the oils against ultra violet or heat-induced lipid peroxidation (Michotte et al, 2011;Sroka & Cisowski, 2003). Jeon et al (2007) reported that supplementation of 4-hydroxybenzoic acid at 0.012% body weight, for 5 weeks, successfully reduced the oxidative stress biomarker and enhanced antioxidant metabolism in hypercholesterolemic rats.…”

“…These results are consistent with the literature data. After only six days of storage, Michotte et al (2011) recorded in their study of linseed oil stability at 60°C a very high PV of more than 60 meq·g -1 (120 mmol H 2 O 2 ·kg -1 ) in the control sample, or between 30 and 60 meq·kg -1 (60 and 120 mmol H 2 O 2 ·kg -1 ) in samples with added antioxidants. After reaching a maximum (PV = 46.32, 38.18, 36.55 and 40.84 mmol H 2 O 2 ·kg -1 of fat phase for the control sample, the samples with vitamin E, carvacrol and a mixture of both, respectively), the PV drastically decreased in all tested samples.…”

“…As Japanese quince seed oil and seed extracts contain natural antioxidants (various polyphenols), the oil could be used for stabilisation of other oils -similar examples of application of other plant seeds have been described (Yanishlieva and Marinova, 2001;Poiana, 2012;Rubilar et al, 2012); stabilisation by linseed oil has been studied more often (Omar et al, 2010;Michotte et al, 2011).…”
