Liquid crystalline side chain-coil diblock copolymers by living free radical polymerization

Abstract: SUMMARY: A series of LC-coil diblock copolymers was prepared using living radical polymerization. The resulting polymers were shown to possess a smectic mesophase and a lamellar microstructure by X-ray diffraction. The microstructure slowly develops on annealing as suggested by DSC studies.
