Localized-to-itinerant transition preceding antiferromagnetic quantum critical point and gapless superconductivity in CeRh0.5Ir0.5In5

Abstract: A fundamental problem posed from the study of correlated electron compounds, of which heavy-fermion systems are prototypes, is the need to understand the physics of states near a quantum critical point (QCP). At a QCP, magnetic order is suppressed continuously to zero temperature and unconventional superconductivity often appears. Here, we report pressure (P)-dependent 115 In nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) measurements on heavy-fermion antiferromagnet CeRh 0.5 Ir 0.5 In 5. These experiments reveal an antif… Show more

“…In unconventional superconductors with line nodes in the gap function, impurity scattering can bring about a finite density of states. In fact, when the residual density of states is quite large, the temperature dependence of 1/T 1 similar to our result was observed [45].…”

“…Evidence for a Kondo-breakdown type of quantum criticality has been found in a few heavy-fermion materials, notably CeCu 6-x Au x 12 , YbRh 2 Si 2 13,14 , and CeRhIn 5 ; 15,16 whereas, a phase diagram like that in Fig. 1a appears in CeIn 3 17 , Co-doped YbRh 2 Si 2 18 and Ir-doped CeRhIn 5 19,20 . Among examples representative of Fig.…”
