Lodged Sugarcane/Crop Dividers Interaction: Analysis of Robotic Sugarcane Harvester in Agriculture via a Rigid-Flexible Coupled Simulation Method

Abstract: As a critical component of the sugarcane harvester, the primary function of the crop dividers is to lift the lodged sugarcane (LS) and reduce the loss rate of the sugarcane harvest. In this study, a rigid-flexible coupling simulation method is proposed to improve the lifting efficiency of the crop dividers on severely LS and analyze the nature of interaction between the sugarcane stalk and the crop dividers. The model’s accuracy was verified using field experiments, and the operational performance of the crop … Show more

“…The rotation angle of the triangular support around point F is set as a percentage of travel: set as 0% when the rotary tiller is at the lower limit position and set as 100% when it is at the upper limit position. The vertical height H of the rotary cutter shaft relative to the ground is measured and recorded every 5% of the stroke when the cutter rises from the lower limit position [22,23] .…”

“…In China, most sugarcane is planted on hills and slopes. Because it is affected by the monsoon and typhoon climate, a large amount of sugarcane lodges and bends, which severely limits the efficiency of mechanical harvesting [10].…”

“…In recent years, to improve the performance of crop divider, many scholars have studied the mechanical structure of crop divider. Most of the sugarcane harvesters on the market today still use spiral crop divider 7 . In field experiments, the effects of different lodging angles, lodging side angles, and sugarcane stem and leaf entanglement on the lifting and lowering performance of crop divider were studied 8 .…”
