Long non-coding RNA FEZF1-AS1 facilitates cell proliferation and migration in colorectal carcinoma

Abstract: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNA) have been shown to play important roles in the development and progression of cancer. Here, we discovered a novel long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) FEZF1 antisense RNA1 (FEZF1-AS1) is markedly upregulated in human primary colorectal carcinoma (CRC) and associated with CRC metastasis and poor prognosis. Moreover, the downregulation of FEZF1-AS1 expression significantly inhibited the CRC cells proliferation, migration and invasiveness, suppressed S-phase entry in vitro, and repressed tumo… Show more

“…Among the eligible articles, 31 were from China, 3 from Japan and 1 from Czech Republic. In the including 34 studies, 29 articles analyzed the relationship between the expression of lncRNAs and gender[1620, 2429, 31, 32, 34–37, 39–46, 4851], 7 studies estimated the association between lncRNAs and tumor size[19, 24, 25, 27, 41, 42, 48], 16 studies estimated the association between lncRNAs and tumor differentiation[16, 17, 19, 24, 25, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, 39, 40, 43, 45, 46, 48], 24 studies were about lymph node metastasis(LNM)[1620, 26, 27, 2932, 34–37, 39, 40, 42–46, 48, 50], and 20 were about distant metastasis[16, 1820, 25, 2729, 3537, 39, 40, 42–46, 48, 50], 18 studies demonstrated that lncRNAs were correlated with TNM stage[…”

“…C, The translational levels of apoptosis relative markers a tremendous amount of work has been done studying lncRNAs, and many of these lncRNAs have been shown to play important roles in the progression of CRC cells 20,21. A, FACS analysis detected the apoptosis cells proportion after upregulating lncRNA RUNX1-IT1.…”

“…Moreover, DANCR could be considered as an independent prognosticator of OS with HR, 2.131; 95% CI, 1.157‐7.058; and P = 0.009, and disease‐free survival (DFS) with HR, 2.397; 95% CI, 1.385‐7.279; and P = 0.006 in CRCs . FEZF1‐AS1 is the other lncRNA which correlates with CRC metastasis, including T stage ( P = 0.005), N stage ( P = 0.004) and M stage ( P = 0.020) . It has been shown that FEZF1‐AS1 overexpressed patients have lower survival time than those with normal FEZF1‐AS1 status (53.53 days ± 3.86 vs. 79.40 days ± 4.02).…”
