Long-term oncological outcomes after robotic partial nephrectomy for renal cell carcinoma: a prospective multicentre study

Abstract: In this multicenter series, long-term OS, DFS and CSS after RPN appeared comparable to large series of open partial nephrectomy, with no port-site metastasis and one case of peritoneal carcinomatosis.

“…However, oncologic survival data is not reported. Several contemporary studies have reported excellent five-year oncologic outcomes for RAPN; however, these studies document outcomes for smaller patient cohorts compared to the present study and do not report oncologic outcomes with respect to surgical margin status (21)(22)(23)(24). In the current study we present longterm oncologic outcomes for a larger cohort of patients with renal cortical neoplasms exclusively managed by RAPN.…”

“…Although we began our robotic surgery experience with cases classified as "very difficult", such as partial nephrectomy and radical prostatectomy, our complication rate in the first 18 months was consistent with the literature (17,18). As the surgeons gained experience, they began to perform the cases classified as "extremely difficult" and their complication rates were decreased.…”
