Low-Complexity Massive MIMO Detectors Based on Richardson Method

Abstract: In the uplink transmission of massive (or large-scale) multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems, large dimensional signal detection and its hardware design are challenging issues owing to the high computational complexity. In this paper, we propose low-complexity hardware architectures of Richardson iterative methodbased massive MIMO detectors. We present two types of massive MIMO detectors, directly mapped (type1) and reformulated (type2) Richardson iterative methods. In the proposed Richardson method (type2),… Show more

“…must be satisfied. The NSA algorithm minimizes the computational complexity to O(K 2 ) instead of O(K 3 ) at the number of iterations lower than 2 ( i 2) [107], [119]. In [120], a weighted NSA (WNS) algorithm for massive MIMO systems based on the large Wishart matrix properties is proposed to fast up the convergence of the NSA algorithm.…”

“…Several iterative methods were also taken into consideration for a massive MIMO system. Neumann Series Approximation (NSA) [16], Approximate Message Passing (AMP) [17], Jacobi method [18], and Richardson method [19] were presented, but the complexity was reduced moderately when compared to the traditional linear and non-linear methods. The popular iterative methods such as Gauss-Seidel (GS) [20], Least-square regression selection [21], Jacobi [22], and Conjugate Gradient (CG) [23] were taken into account for massive MIMO detection.…”
