Low‐dose aspirin treatment improves endometrial receptivity in the midluteal phase in unexplained recurrent implantation failure

Abstract: The term "implantation failure" refers to unsuccessful embryo implantation during assisted reproductive technology. 1 Repeated failed cycles are frustrating for couples and their clinicians. Unlike clinical abortions, in which karyotypically abnormal embryos are the cause of 50% of losses, 2 the exact causes of implantation failure remain unknown. Some studies suggest that implantation failure might be related to maternal age, reproductive malformation, autoimmune disease, inherited thrombophilia, and genetics… Show more

“…Some studies have pointed out that improving the blood flow of the endometrium may be an important measure in improving its receptivity. The rates of embryo implantation and clinical pregnancy in patients with rich endometrial blood flow are significantly higher than those for patients with poor endometrial blood flow (Savaris and Giudice, 2007;Zhang et al, 2021a). Therefore, hypomenorrhea or amenorrhea might be indicative of a thinner and less receptive endometrium.…”

“…In terms of reproduction, aspirin contributed to reduce the inflammation in uterus and improve uterine perfusion, which may improve endometrial receptivity ( 212 , 213 ). Although aspirin can decrease endometrial and uterine arterial blood flow resistance in patients with unexplained RIF ( 214 ), no significant differences were found between the aspirin treatment group and control group with respect to implantation and pregnancy rates ( 215 218 ).…”

“…The use of lowdose aspirin during in-vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection could enhance pregnancy rates, according to the findings of a meta-analysis of 13 randomized controlled studies performed by Li et al (74); the clinical dose that was advised was 100 mg/d. In patients with repeated implantation failure, endometrial and uterine artery blood flow resistance was dramatically reduced following low-dose aspirin treatment compared to before treatment (75).…”
