Abstract:Mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) is the most common malignant salivary gland tumor, comprising about 15% of all salivary gland tumors and 30% of all salivary malignancies. Most of the MEC arise in the parotid gland. Rarely, it originates in the mandible and maxilla as an intraosseous variant, referred to as ‘central mucoepidermoid carcinoma’ or ‘intraosseous mucoepidermoid carcinoma’.
