Low noise perpendicular magnetic recording media for deep submicron track width recording

Abstract: Noise reduction in double-layered perpendicular recording media with a thick soft magnetic backlayer was studied. Although the medium noise was increased with the backlayer, the noise for quaternary alloy films could be substantially reduced by introducing a certain intermediate layer between the alloy layer and the backlayer.
