Abstract:The problem of low-noise reception of high-frequency narrow-band modulated optical radiation is discussed. Two topologies for the receiver are proposed, and the operation of each is described. Design characteristics are presented for S band receivers constructed using low capacitance photodetectors, and GaAs MESFET's. The performance of two experimental receivers was measured and found to be in reasonable agreement with design projections. Potential techniques for design optimization and extensions to other ty… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
