“…A nuanced scholarship also exists which focuses on the structural transformations that have occurred in different parts of India due to emigration especially in terms of evaluating the impact of remittances sent by emigrants on development of the sending regions (Bhagat et al, 2013;Noushad et al, 2020;Upadhya & Rutten, 2012). Studies have also focused on understanding its impact on (a)socio-economic inequalities in the sending region (Taylor et al, 2007), (b) transformations in the material conditions of the leftbehind families (Banerjee et al, 2002), (c) negotiations of family aspirations (Mooney, 2006), (d) gender dynamics in the left-behind families (Gulati, 1993;Kapur, 2010; and (e) about the ways in which identities are formed and shaped in ways that help transmigrants participate in the social, economic and political processes in the home countries (Kurien, 2002).…”
