In this issue we have 5 articles. We begin with a different approach to the exstrophy-epispadias complex and focus on the genetic and histological level rather than the more obvious anatomical issues. Next, we look further into a controversy that has been ongoing for the past 8 yearsewhether caudal blocks increase the risk of hypospadias complications. The importance of this assertion is obvious to subspecialists but even the general reader can appreciate why the process of peer review, replication with confirmation or refutation will become increasingly important. Finally, we have 3 articles that take a long-term view with data tracking patients from infancy into adulthood.
