Abstract

RESUMOTer conhecimento da soropositividade para o vírus da imunodeficiência humana no período gestacional traz sofrimentos e afeta a esperança da mulher. O objetivo do presente estudo foi descrever o significado de maternidade para a gestante que descobre sua soropositividade para o vírus da imunodeficiência humana no pré-natal e a repercussão deste significado em sua esperança. O presente estudo é de caráter qualitativo e se apoiou na pesquisa de narrativas à luz do referencial teórico do Interacionismo Simbólico. Oito mulheres foram entrevistadas, e, após análise dos dados, organizaram-se os resultados obtidos em três unidades temáticas: "Ser mãe"; "Cuidar de si"; e "Entrega à intervenção divina". Identificou-se que a esperança dessas mulheres tem relação com o fato de ser mãe, de forma que a proteção ao filho com vistas a sua soronegatividade é a meta por elas estabelecida; significa o cuidado de si como meio para garantir tal meta, e, diante da desesperança, ela valoriza e intensifica a interação com o filho e com Deus.Palavras-chave: Gravidez, HIV, Pesquisa Qualitativa.

Experience of family members providing care for HIV-exposed children: beginning of the trajectory
