Machinery guidance systems analysis concerning pass-to-pass accuracy as a tool for efficient plant production in fields and for soil damage reduction

Abstract: summarize the following general benefits from the use of guidance systems: reduction in driver fatigue, reduction in costs, increase in productivity, improved work quality, improved safety, less impact on the environment, possibility for work at night and when visibility is poor. Many different types of guidance systems such as ground-based sensing systems, laser systems, Machinery guidance systems analysis concerning pass-to-pass accuracy as a tool for efficient plant production in fields and for soil damage r… Show more

“…Robots can assist humans [87,88] for difficult tasks or replace them for difficult ones. The cost reduction [77] effectiveness is demonstrated and research in decision error reduction [89][90][91] is intensive to improve accuracy by simulation [92][93][94] and by more precise path finding [14,95] and guidance algorithms [96,97]. The new Agri-Food projects fund the integration of Agriculture Robots to support the applications since the beginning to ensure the maximum results.…”

“…The benefits of precision agriculture are also confirmed by Kviz et al (2014), who define savings due to use of RTK (Real Time Kinematic) based guidance systems, in the sense of time savings from the number of field operations in a season, or reduction in machinery crossings compared to the conventional system. The authors say that better accuracy of machinery with guidance systems in fields could help achieve energy and material savings and, to some extent, reduce machinery traffic in fields, thus improving soil conditions.…”

“…In addition, the 3D data obtained before soil tillage can help plan a conventional tillage operation with the optimisation and minimisation of farming machinery traffic, such as reducing the number of trajectories during the soil tillage, taking into account the obstacles and slopes. The development of traffic farming techniques has been addressed by some authors [66,67] to minimise erosion and soil compaction during a conventional tillage operation. The above analysis shows that the unchanged-area-matching method effectively aligned multi-temporal DTMs obtained from UAV surveys with the minimisation of uncertainties.…”
