Magnetic properties of ND Rich Melt-Spun ND-FE-B alloy

Abstract: As a part of these experimental investigations of melt-spun Nd-Fe-B alloy with Nd rich content in relation to Nd2Fe14B prepared by rapid quenching process for optimally selected cooling rate and heat treatment, the influence of the chosen chemical composition on magnetic properties was observed. The results of X-ray diffraction, Mössbauer spectroscopy phase analysis and magnetic measurement of investigated melt-spun Nd14.5Fe78.5B7 alloy are presented to bring some new information concerning the relation betwee… Show more

“…The as-quenched powders of these alloys were subsequently annealed to the optimized magnetic state. The applied heat treatment regimes were optimized in previous investigations [5][6][7][8][9]. Basic data concerning preparation method and magnetic properties of both powder samples of the investigated alloys are summarized in Tab.…”

“…Grains of this phase are magnetically isolated (decoupled) by intergranular layers of Nd-rich phases. [5][6][7] This structure leads essentially to a magnetic decoupling and each hard magnetic grain behaves like a small permanent magnet, which results in high coercivities. 1,8 The superior magnetic performance of this type of Nd-Fe-B alloy arises from the higher values of coercivity compared to nanocomposite Nd-Fe-B alloys 9,10 and ferrite-based magnetic materials.…”
