“…Although studies of PMA media are generally based on macroscopic magnetometry observations 13 14 , a microscopic view of the magnetic properties, which can be obtained via magnetic microscopy 15 16 17 18 and X-ray scattering 19 20 21 22 , is often lacking. We present here a unique coherent X-ray magnetic correlation study, mapping out nanoscale magnetic memory phenomena in exchange-biased PMA multilayers throughout their magnetization process.…”

“…Yang et al investigated the magnetic properties of sputter‐deposited and annealed CoCr/CoCrPt recording media. Fischer et al reported magnetization reversal behavior of nanogranular CoCrPt alloy thin films by transmission X‐ray microscopy. In spite of many recently published papers on characterization of CoCr‐based alloy thin films, more work is needed to make it possible to obtain optimum characteristics.…”

“…So, CoCrPt/ceramic/alloy multilayers are one of the most promising candidates for the ultra-high-density magnetic recording media, due to their desirable magnetic properties such as high coercivity and strong magnetocrystalline anisotropy for stable highdensity recording. Many researchers, for instance, Xu et al (2001), Platt et al (2002), Li et al (2004), Fischer et al (2005 and Yang et al (2006) have studied the magnetic and microstructural properties of CoCrPt/ceramic/alloy thin films utilized for ultra-high-density recording. In this study, we concentrated our attention on the microstructure evaluation of nano-grain Al 2 O 3 crystallites evolved by annealing the sputtered (Co 75 Cr 13 Pt 12 ) 100−X (Al 2 O 3 ) X granular films.…”
