Major Adverse Events in Patients with Peripheral Artery Disease after Endovascular Revascularization: A Retrospective Study

Abstract: Objective: For peripheral artery disease (PAD) patients, after endovascular revascularization, it is crucial to manage associated factors that can affect the risk of major adverse events. We aimed to investigate the associated factors of major adverse events in these patients. Materials and Methods: We conducted a retrospective longitudinal analysis using the electronic medical records from a tertiary hospital in Korea and included the data of 1263 patients. Eligible patients were categorized into four groups … Show more

“…In this study, the numbers of patients who died in the hospital within 7 days and 30 days of a PAD diagnosis were 24 to 53 and 41 to 89, respectively, suggesting that a high proportion of in-hospital deaths occurred within 7 days. Patients with PAD may develop complications, such as ischemic myocardial and cerebrovascular events and sepsis [39][40][41], and older adults have a higher risk of complications than younger age groups [40]. Interventions and intensive monitoring of complications in the first month are necessary for hospitalized patients with PAD.…”

“…Purposeful sampling was used to recruit participants from the cardiovascular outpatient clinic of a tertiary hospital in Seoul, South Korea. A prior retrospective study that used electronic medical records from this hospital included 1,263 patients with PAD and the age range was 19-96 years (mean age 67.3 years; Kim et al, 2022b). Therefore, we tried to recruit as broad an age range as possible to explore the various experiences of the participants.…”

“…8,9 There is a need to investigate potential adverse event mechanisms, as many patients are affected by adverse events with unexplained mechanisms worldwide. [10][11][12] There are limited in vivo studies that investigate the effects of TKIs on different protein expressions or the activation of certain genes. Most of the in vivo studies focus on tumor response to the TKIs.…”
