Mit der Optimierung des Lehrens und Lernens durch Daten, Zahlen und Algorithmen nehmen die Nutzung digital erzeugter Daten oder automatisierte Auswertungsmethoden zu. Daten lassen sich nahezu beliebig miteinander verknüpfen und digitale Geräte, einzelne Plattformen und technische Ökosysteme befinden sich inzwischen im Dauerbetrieb. Scheinbare »Gewissheiten« und vermeintlich objektive(re) Rückmeldungen bestimmen so die pädagogische Praxis mit. Die Beitragenden des Bandes setzen sich kritisch mit (digitalen) Vermessungspraktiken in pädagogischen Kontexten und der allumfassenden Quantifizierung auseinander. Neben aktuellen Forschungsprojekten, die die dargelegten Ambivalenzen empirisch in den Blick nehmen, reflektieren darüber hinaus Forschende in Interviews die Erkenntnisse sowie eigene Erfahrungen für die Gegenwartsgesellschaft.

Data literacy is a vital life-skill that is becoming increasingly necessary in today's society. As such, public data literacy education must become a substantive component in teaching, requiring an appropriate pedagogical model. This paper aims to present a new definition for data literacy, as well as conceptual framework for public data literacy education, drawing from tenets of design-based education and synthesized principles of data literacy education from literature. The resulting framework is termed the Data Design Cycle, and emphasizes collaboration, communication, and the development of problem-solving skills. The model is highly adaptable to different educational environments and learning styles, making it easily integrable into a variety of educational settings, including traditional classroom-based learning, online learning, and experiential learning programs. Furthermore, by promoting the principles of public teaching of data literacy and a learner-centred approach, the Data Design Cycle ensures that data literacy education is accessible to heterogeneous learners from diverse educational and socioeconomical settings.

Tässä kriittisessä esseessä luon yleiskatsauksen koulutuksen digitaalisen datafikaation erilaisiin muotoihin ja merkityksiin erityisesti kotimaisessa kontekstissa. Esseessä käyn läpi datafikaation suhdetta muihin koulutusta ohjaaviin trendeihin, erityisesti digitalisaatioon, oppimiskeskeisyyteen ja tulosvastuullisuuteen. Lisäksi tarkastelen datan ja datan diskursiivisen tuottamisen välistä epäsuhtaa, josta jatkan koulun dataintensiivisten käytäntöjen kautta tapahtuvan jatkuvan datankeruun luonnollistumisen tarkasteluun. Viimeisessä temaattisessa osiossa jäsennän elinikäisen oppimisen ideologian ja datafikaation välistä suhdetta. Esseen lopuksi esitän monilukutaidon pedagogiikkaan tukeutuen näkemykseni siitä, millä tavoin datafikaation ei-toivottuja lieveilmiöitä voidaan purkaa ja miten arkiset datakäytänteet voidaan uudelleenkehystää kriittisen datalukutaidon harjoitteluun.
