MALT1 positively correlates with Th1 cells, Th17 cells, and their secreted cytokines and also relates to disease risk, severity, and prognosis of acute ischemic stroke

Abstract: Background This study aimed to explore the association of mucosa‐associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma translocation protein 1 (MALT1) with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) risk and also to explore its association with T helper type 1 (Th1) cells, Th17 cells, disease severity, and prognosis in AIS patients. Methods One hundred twenty first‐episode AIS patients and 120 non‐AIS patients with high‐stroke‐risk factors (as controls) were recruited. Besides, in the cluster of differentiation 4‐positive (CD4+) T cells, the … Show more

“…For example, up-regulated gga-miR-2954 at 10 DPI and down-regulated gga-miR-2954 at 15 DPI may be related to the expression of RARA, thus promoting the differentiation of Th1 or Th2 cells at 10 and 15 DPI, respectively [47] [48]. At 10 and 15 DPI, sustained down-regulation of gga-miR-7460-3p and gga-miR-145-5p may promote Th1 and Th17 differentiation by disinhibiting RIPK2 and MALT1, respectively [49] [50]. At 10 DPI, down-regulated gga-miR-214 may promote Th1/Th17 and inhibit Th2 through disinhibiting SOCS5, STAT3[51] [52].…”

“…For example, RARA, having been shown to be involved in the differentiation of Th1 or Th2 cells [ 52 , 58 ], was found to be potentially targeted by gga-miR-2954 that showed an up-regulated expression at 10 DPI and a down-regulated expression at 15 DPI. Moreover, PIPK2 [ 53 ], MALT1 [ 54 ], SOCS5 [ 50 ], STAT3 [ 51 ], IL12B [ 56 ], and IRF4 [ 57 ] has been shown to be associated with Th response. Among these, PIPK2 and MALT1 has been shown to be associated with promotion of Th1 and Th17 differentiation, respectively [ 53 , 54 ].…”
