“…Renal failure was defined as a glomerular filtration rate lower than 75 mL/min/1.73 m 2. In the case of TOP or IUFD, a detailed autopsy was performed except when there were chromosomal defects. Histological renal dysplasia was defined by tubular macrocysts or microcysts, medullary fibrosis and nephron reduction.…”
Lower urinary tract obstruction is the main etiology of megacystis. Megacystis can also be part of more complex malformations. Outcome of megacystis detected in the first trimester is poor. PUV detected in the third trimester had a better overall survival rate than PUV detected in the second trimester.

“…Renal function was evaluated after a minimum follow-up of 6 months. Renal failure was defined as a GFR lower than 40 mL/min/1.73 m 2 before the age of 1 year, and a GFR lower than 75 mL/min/1.73 m 2 after 1 year 14,15 . We classified renal prognosis as either favorable or adverse -favorable when postnatal renal function was normal, and adverse in cases of postnatal chronic renal failure, neonatal death in a context of renal failure or when renal histological lesions at autopsy were present.…”
“…It has been used for more than 15 years successfully as the standard treatment of renal anemia. 6 The major problem with rHuEPO treatment, however, is the requirement for frequent application (3 times per week), due to its short half-life. I.v.…”
DA is a reasonable alternative to rHuEPO in the treatment of anemia in pediatric CKD patients, due to its clinical efficacy, convenience of use, patient compliance and tolerability.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
