Management of Leaf Rust of Wheat through Different Levels of NPK and Sowing Times

Abstract: Leaf rust (Puccinia triticina f. sp. tritici) is universal threat for wheat production. In present study, effect of sowing dates (30 th Oct; 10 th , 20 th and 30 th Nov) and NPK levels (N1-80Kg, N2-100Kg, N3-60Kg, P 1-58Kg, P 2-70Kg, P 3-50Kg, K 1-63Kg, K 2-75, K 3-55Kg) against leaf rust and their impact on 1000 grain were evaluated under Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) at Plant Pathology research area in University of Agriculture Faisalabad during 2009. Results showed that among 3 fertilizers, K exhi… Show more

“…(2014) and ( Naseri and Kazemi, 2020 ) depicted that late sowing increases rust infection in wheat by providing favorable air temperature and relative humidity that are suitable for infection. Otherwise, early sowing has decisive importance in weakening rust severity ( Singh et al., 2012 ; Atiq et al., 2017 ). Considerable consistency was detected between the two tested sowing dates for Giza-171, Misr-1, Gemmeiza-12, Sids-12, Sids-13, and Line-55.…”

“…According to , the application of triazole and strobilurin fungicide combinations within permissible range is the preferred method for leaf management. The most effective approach to managing this disease included the integrating cultural, genetic, and fungicide control methods (Atiq et al, 2017;Javaid et al, 2018).…”

“…Previous investigation showed 10-90% yield losses occur due to the stripe rust epidemics (Dzhunusova et al, 2009;Hussain et al, 2017). As the cultivation of susceptible wheat varieties having low resistance to stripe rust is the main cause of epidemics in these regions (Sharma et al 2009), therefore various fungicides are widely used to control stripe rust, which is done without the knowing their capacity to control disease under field conditions (Atiq et al, 2017;Razzaq et al, 2018). Currently, forty different products of fungicides have been documented for the management of stripe rust disease.…”
