“…Nevertheless, nonpolar carbon materials are usually limited in alleviating the shuttle effect of LiPSs because of their weak interactions with polar LiPSs. [ 13 ] Therefore, several polar materials, such as, transitional metal oxides [ 14 , 15 , 16 ] and sulfides [ 17 , 18 , 19 ] which can adsorb LiPSs owing to their strong chemical interactions, have been applied as coated functional materials on separators. In particular, MoS 2 materials have been shown to promote the catalytic conversion of LiPSs.…”

“…Liu et al coated the MnO 2 on carbon paper to fabricate the MCC-PP interlayer by a hydrothermal reaction. 78 As shown in Fig. 7b, with the strong ability to capture and immobilize the polysulfides of MnO 2 , LSBs with the MCC-PP interlayer demonstrate an initial discharge capacity of 843.4 mA h g À1 at 1C and an ultralow capacity decay of 0.063% per cycle after 300 cycles.…”

“…49 3.3.2 Metal oxides. As for the common metal oxides used to modify interlayers, relevant literature reports include MoO 3 , 76 MnO 2 , 78,96 SnO 2 , and ZnO. 52,79 Due to the high polarity, metal oxides can obviously inhibit the diffusion of LiPSs by forming strong chemical bonds with lithium polysulfides to suppress the shuttling effectively.…”

“…Especially, carbon fiber-based architectures accompanying nanostructured metal compounds with multiple advantages including high specific surface area, flexibility, lightweight, and good tunability that fascinate superior electrochemical performance have gained significant interest. The carbon fibers lay the elementary skeleton which provides channels for electron transport; meanwhile, the metal compounds impart functionality for adsorption and catalysis of polysulfides. However, the stereotypical method for the fabrication of surface-decorated fibrous carbon materials frequently employs hydrothermal reactions that are challenging to scale up. Apart from scalability, the inclusion of crucial ambient parameters that affect the repeatable achievement of morphology and long reaction times are other complexions. Therefore, the direct acquisition of these methodologies for commercial production on an industrial level is far from feasible.…”
