“…The unirradiated sample had the same structure, the only difference being in the cell parameters (Table 1). Single crystal studies of DMM have already been reported [18]. In the present study also the system was found to be orthorhombic.…”

“…It should be noted that the main broadenings of OH stretching vibrations in the spectra of the NCs were due to the presence of a strong hydrogen network between the OH groups of the polysaccharide matrix and H 2 O molecules in the metal–polysaccharide crystal structures, which are responsible for the stabilization of solid structure and for retaining aggregated units. Such a system of hydrogen bonding was found in the crystal structure of Mn(D-gluconate) 2 ×2H 2 O salt [ 40 ]. In addition, the maximum of the absorption band from δ (OH) vibrations (at 1430 cm −1 ), characteristic of one of the possible positions of the CH 2 OH group, shifted towards lower frequencies, which also evidences ionization due to complexation [ 39 ].…”

“…The malonate anion, in its frequently found coordination mode [6,16,17] acts as a chelating and a bis(monodentate) ligand towards three metal ions. A selection of bond lengths and angles is reported in Table 2, and the metal coordination sphere with atom labeling Scheme is shown in Figure 5 (12) C ( The present structure is close comparable to those detected in analogous derivatives [Mn 2 (mal) 2 (4,4-bipy)-(H 2 O) 2 ] n , [6a] and [Mn 2 (mal) 2 (hmt)(H 2 O) 2 ] n , [6b] where [Mn(mal)(H 2 O)] n layers are connected by 4,4Ј-bipy and hmt spacers, respectively.…”
