“…Rosner (1916) performed a Hochenegg operation in a patient two months pregnant ; unfortunately, she developed a rectovaginal fistula and the pregnancy was terminated by hysterectomy at six months. Katz and Kasper (1926) reported on Hochenegg's cases over the previous twenty-five years, and these included 5 cases in which the rectum was excised successfully without disturbing the pregnancy. Further operations for the excision of the rectum during pregnancy were reported by Maunsell (1925) ;Banner, Hunt, and Dixon (1945) ; Bacon (1949) ;Jennings (1952) ;and McLean, Arminski, and Bradley (1955).…”
