Material hardship and child neglect risk amidst COVID-19 in grandparent-headed kinship families: The role of financial assistance

A potential reason for the largest deviation occurring in August and September is that caregivers plan for summer childcare and rely on children returning to school in order to return to work at full capacity – especially families who are less socially advantaged (Xu et al, 2021 ).
