Mathematical Model Describing the Influence of Geometrical Parameters of Multichannel Dies on the Limit Force of Dry Ice Extrusion Process

Abstract: The article presents a formulated mathematical model that enables the determination of the required compressive force in the extrusion process of dry ice employing multichannel dies. This is the main parameter in the piston-based dry ice extrusion process. The indicated model was developed for the purpose of further improvement of the energy efficiency of this extrusion process. It allows for the determination of the value of compressive force by accounting for 12 variables related to the geometrical parameter… Show more

“…As we can see from this example, there is a correlation between the optimization of technological parameters and the features of the particular mechanisms of the designed device. The same situation can be observed in the case of the work of Górecki [29], who worked to optimize the dry ice compaction process, using the piston-die technique. Experimental research connected with mathematical modeling gave him the possibility to optimize the technological parameters of compaction, which ensures the lowest energy consumption possible.…”

“…Information from the literature about the design of the devices for different technological operations [ 27 , 28 , 29 , 30 , 31 , 32 , 33 , 34 , 35 ], especially for the aspect of plastics joining [ 32 , 33 , 34 , 35 ], is very helpful but does not provide satisfactory solutions for the butt welding of drive belts.…”

“…The purpose of the experiments carried out as part of the PhD thesis research work was to determine the parameters relevant to adhesive bonding of polyurethane, reinforced synchronous belting and PU or polyamide fabric facing and the influence of these parameters on the bond strength, in particular determined by rolling of the belt around a circle. There is a noticeable interest in issues related to increasing process efficiency in the literature [18][19][20][21]25,26]. Research is being carried out, among other, to improve processes related to belt perforation [1,22], as well as to modification of machines carrying out the process of gluing plastics [13,23,24] and power transmission through belts [19].…”

“…Because of the orthotropic mechanical properties of the polymer multilayer composite belts, the classical theory used in punching is not always applicable in such cases. Some correlations can be discovered in the behavior of non-classical materials [9][10][11] or natural polymers [12,13]. Not only the mechanical properties, but also the chemical compound [14] or thermomechanical properties [15][16][17] can affect the course of the machining process.…”
