MAW Productivity Development and Reduction of its Harmful Effect on Human Organisms

Abstract: The article presents results of researches on manual arc welding efficiency development. It is proved that the arc welding inverter power source, compared with the diode rectifier, increases coefficient of transition of alloying elements into the weld joint; it also reduces the rate of alloying elements transition into slag and gaseous components and in addition reduces the harmful effects of welding on human organisms.

“…2. Periodic movement of the end of the tape electrode along the direction of its supply changes the energy characteristics of the arc and, depending on the parameters of this oscillatory motion, leads to a change in the efficiency of melting of the tape electrode and the base metal [9]. Since the distribution of thermal power can be taken uniform across the width of the tape electrode, the heat input into the seam and its distribution along the depth of the heat-affected zone can be considered as an example of a local section of the tape electrode.…”

“…The stability of penetration can be ensured by additional technological measures to increase the efficiency of the surfacing process, such as improving the protection of the weld pool [2,3] and controlling the formation of the penetration zone in welding [4] and surfacing [5,6]. Are known works devoted to control the transfer of electrode metal into the weld pool when surfacing with a wire under influence of shielding gas [7,8], by impact of longitudinal magnetic field [9]; in [10] an example of the use of controlled mechanical transfer during surfacing with stripe electrode is given.…”
