Maximum standardized uptake value of normal structures in the head and neck with bone SPECT/CT

Abstract: Introduction:The quantitative parameter was successfully derived from the quantitative bone SPECT/CT images. The aim of this study was to evaluate maximum standardized uptake value (SUV) of normal structures in the head and neck with bone SPECT/CT. Methods: Fifty-three patients with jaw lesions (11 chronic osteomyelitis, eight osteoradionecrosis and 34 medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw) who had bone SPECT/CT were prospectively included. The maximum SUV of normal structures including vertebrae, sterna… Show more

“…Regarding the maximum SUV using Q. Metrix and Xeleris workstation, we indicated the SUVs of jaw pathologies and the opposite side of the lesion as the control in Table 1. Tezuka et al [8] indicated that maximum SUVs were 8.10 ± 3.72 for vertebrae, 5.16 ± 2.05 for sternal body, 3.67 ± 1.55 for parietal bone and 1.44 ± 0.56 for hyoid bone. Furthermore, Zhang et al [25] explored the value of skeletal maximum SUV obtained by SPECT/CT in the differential diagnosis of bone metastases from benign lesions.…”
