Measurement of temperature, velocity and water vapor concentration in a scramjet combustor based on near-infrared diode laser absorption

Abstract: A multi-channel Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS) system was designed and constructed for flow parameters diagnostics in a scramjet combustor. Two fiber coupled distributed feedback (DFB) lasers with narrow line width were used to probe two H 2 O absorption features (7185.597cm (combined)) by using direct absorption Time-Division-Multiplexing (TDM) strategy at a 4-kHz repetition rate. Laser light was split into five beams and transmitted across the test region. Two motorized precision transla… Show more

“…Water vapor absorption feature centered at 7185.597 cm −1 (i.e., e ν 0 ) was used in this analysis. This transition has been applied extensively in practice due to its relatively strong absorption strength at high temperatures and its isolation from interfering transitions in its vicinity [14,18].…”

“…3.A and 3.B, respectively. The analyses were conducted under the context of applications in our scramjet facility as reported in [18], where the typical flow conditions at the measurement location are Mach number of 1.83, static temperature of 600 K, and static pressure of 1.0 atm. Water vapor absorption feature centered at 7185.597 cm −1 (i.e., e ν 0 ) was used in this analysis.…”
